EICMA 2025: This is the modern world

Incredibly, it's now 111 years since the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori (EICMA) motorcycle show was first held in Milan. Since then it's grown to be one of the world’s largest motorcycle shows and in 2024 around 600,000 visitors flocked to see displays by 770 companies from 45 countries representing 2,163 brands. As has become traditional, this year’s show was held in the first week of November and looks like being another record breaking event.

For enthusiasts of modern Vespas there was plenty on offer and unsurprisingly, Piaggio chose the event to showcase the special editions created to celebrate the brand’s 80th anniversary in 2026.

Vintage green

Kicking off the party will be special editions of both the GTS and Primavera. The main distinguishing feature of these machines is the Verde Pastello livery. This is a pastel shade of green which is very reminiscent of colours applied to some Vespa models in the early 1950s. This colour way is carried beyond paint into details such as handlebar grips, legshield trim and seat. Eagle eyed Vespisti will also notice the new wheel design that’s been introduced on the GTS version. Completing the anniversary package special logos and badges.

We’re still waiting for news on a release date and prices, but we’ll bring you that news just as soon as it reaches us.

Other models

The 2026 model-year Vespa Primavera and Sprint S also took to the stage, featuring technical, functional and design updates. All versions regain the retractable hook under the handlebar, while keyless ignition appears on models above 50 cc. The Primavera and Sprint S are available with combustion engines in 50 and 125 cc displacements, as well as with an electric powertrain, homologated either as a moped (Am licence) or as a motorcycle (A1 licence).

New colours were also unveiled, with the GTV being exhibited in a rather fetching shade of green.

Polini

At Ron Daley’s were very proud to be a major stockist of Polini products and the Italian tuning house didn’t disappoint. In addition to the PX engine cases (see our classic blog) they also announced an extension to the number of models to which their HI-Speed variators, can be fitted.

This is the result of extensive investment in research and development and the Polini catalogue today represents one of the most complete on the market. There are over 120 variator models designed for both the most popular scooters and latest-generation machines, from small displacements to the most powerful scooters.

Among the most iconic examples are the HI-Speed Evolution kits, designed to enhance acceleration, speed, and reliability:

  • Polini Hi-Speed variators with dedicated roller guide tracks and inclinations.
  • Air Speed drive pulleys with redesigned profiles for greater belt travel.
  • Polini Evolution Kevlar belt, with specific measurements for each model.
  • Compression spring with differentiated loads and Evo-slider anti-torsion system.
  • Specific roller sets for personalised tuning.
  • Patented lubrication system.
  • DLC-treated racing pin with integrated grease reservoir.

It's party time

As EICMA shows, 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for enthusiasts of the Vespa marque with the highlight being Vespa World Days, which is held in Rome between 25 to 28 June. We’re certain that this will be a once in a lifetime event. Tickets will go on sale early in 2026, but the only way to apply from one is through a national vespa club. In the UK that’s the Vespa Club of Britain, so why not join now? Not only will it open the doors to the greatest Vespa party of all time, you’ll also qualify for a club discount in our shop, both online and in our Barnsley showroom.
